Heart Rock at Ikizu Beach, Ikema Island
Ikema Island's Heart Rock is famous for being a comforting location that brings people happiness.A strange and beautiful work of nature where part of an old coral reef has eroded into the shape of a heart.
The tilted heart-shaped reef can appear as a different shape depending on the tide and the viewing angle.
The best time to see the Heart Rock is during low tide.
There is backlight in the afternoon so daytime is ideal for seeing the Heart.
Makiyama Observatory on Irabu Island
Even among the locals, the oceans around Miyakojima and Irabu Island are known to be one of the most beautiful seas in Okinawa.Fun fact: there are no rivers on Miyakojima or Irabu Island as they were formed from the deposition of Ryukyu limestone.
Since there are no rivers, there are no runoffs, resulting in Okinawa being bordered by crystal-clear oceans.
From Mikiyama Observatory, you can gaze across the clear oceans of Okinawa and see the Irabu Bridge, which was constructed in 2015, stretch out along the ocean.
Natsu Beach, a hidden gem
Natsu Beach is located approximately 20 min drive up North from the hotel.Near the beach is a popular cafe/restaurant called "Chanoma".
The view at Natsu Beach rivals Sunayama Beach also located in Miyakojima.
The location is so hidden, it passes the definition of a private beach and can easily be called a secret beach.
Sunayama Beach is located approximately 4km from the central district.
After traveling 4km from the central district of Miyakojima, and climbing over a giant sand hill, you will reach the amazing view the Sunayama beach has to offer.Blue, crystal clear ocean boarded with powdery white sand. The wind and waves have carved out a section of Ryukyu limestone and formed a cave over many months and years. The view of the blue ocean stretching past the cave is picturesque making it a popular spot for photography.
However, Sunahama Beach is not a public swimming location. Depending on the location, the tide can be strong, creating a risk of people being washed out. There have been multiple incidents reported concerning people snorkeling so if you are planning to go swimming at Sunahama Beach, please be very careful.
Yonaha Maehama Beach is said to be the most beautiful beach in the Orient
Yonahama Maehama Beach is one of the most popular beaches among tourists visiting Miyakojima.The most beautiful beach in Orient has a pure white beach stretching out for 7km contrasting against the sparkling emerald green ocean. This beautiful location is also used as a starting point for National Miyakojima Triathlon held every year in April.
Miyakojima's easternmost point, Higashi-Hennazaki
At the easternmost point of Miyakojima is Higashi-Hennazaki listed as Japan's top 100 most beautiful locations and unsurprisingly a popular tourist destination.Seeing such a view from Hennazaki Lighthouse, the beauty is indescribable.
You can enjoy the panoramic view where you can see the curvature of the Earth.
Kurima Bridge connecting Miyakojima and Kurima Island
Kurima Bridge was built in 1995 and it stretches out for 1690m.Driving through the Kurima Bridge that cuts through the blue sky and blue ocean feels like you are in a scene from a movie.
Kurima Island has a scenic view and is known for being a peaceful neighboring Island.
When driving through Kurima bridge, why don't you stop by on the Island and enjoy what the Island has to offer rather than taking a U-turn?
The port with the best view in Japan, Kurima Maehama Port
Miyakojima might be famous for Yonahama Beach. However, there is a port that has a view that rivals Yonahama Beach.On the eastern side of Yonahama is Kurima Meahama Port located near Kurima Bridge.
The Yonahama that you can see from Kurima Maehama port out competes view from all other ports in Okinawa.
There is parking available at the front of the port for accessing the beach. However, you can drive into the port by car.
